This was a very competitive game and I believe that the better side came away with the victory.
Brumbies:
They had a great set piece and that is where most of their points came from. In the beginning of the game the they defended very well and were able to get crucial turnovers at the right time to defuse the Highlanders defense. The only problem with them was they returned to their old way of playing and did not run the ball at all I don’t even remember seeing Banks or Wright having one of their busty runs like they had in the first two games. The problem with them going back to that way of playing is that now they are only a dangerous team when they get a line out on the oppositions 5 m line.
Highlanders:
The Highlanders had a good game and attacked very good until they came into the 22 of the Brumbies then they concede a soft turnover and there whole attack counts for nothing. They also struggled with defending the driving mall of the Brumbies and did not have a clear plan, sometimes they put a player up other times they tried to not go up and hit the mall. I think the best way to defend a mall is to sack it before it is started and for some reason they did not try that. The reason that they won the game was because they payed until the end even after the siren went they kept playing and trying to break the defensive line and then when they finally broke through the Brumbies defense they were able to get the win.
MVP:
Shannon Frizell: He had a great game and proved why he must be apart of the All-Black setup.
